“The April Sun” William Henry Davies, Wales (1871-1940)

The sun is not yet summer-strong,

But sings a softer, lighter song.

It falls in pools on waking ground,

And coaxes all the buds around.

I sit in shade, and smile to be

In April’s small simplicity.
